A Belgian Red boasting a mellow aroma with a full-bodied and rich flavour

Tastes can be very much deceiving in the world of beer but, if there is one that we can say looks like it tastes, it might be this brew. Dark but fruity, strong and rich, and yet balanced and beautiful. We give you Akane.[Brewer's Voice]The Toppa series is our way to showcase high alcohol beers, but our intention is to do so in as balanced and drinkable way as possible. The body for this beer comes from a special production method called polygyle mashing where we use twice the grain with half the water, making a much more concentrated wort. This creates the high ABV, but the balance comes from blending our house Belgian yeast with an American ale strain. This creates a finish that feels dry while also allowing the fruity esters of the Belgian yeast to complement the rich crystal malt flavors without overpowering them.
