Highly balanced Belgian IPA with a hoppy fusion between 4 different remarkable IPA styles
[Character]A blend of several IPA styles, Mariko blends belgian fruity yeast esters, Citrus, piney and sweet fruit hop character, with a pale and wheat forward malt body. This beer has a strong hop aroma with a soft malt profile and dry finish.[Food Pairing]Grilled shellfish with herbed garlic butter, potato salad with "rakkyo" onions and yogurt, roasted chicken thigh with chimichurri sauce.[Naming]Mariko is a favourite daughter to our brewers, a younger sister to big brother Mario, she is borne of our house Belgian yeast but stays mild enough at 6% while offering plenty of bright fruity character. Never a bitter soul, she prefers to focus on the colourful and tropical side of life.[Brewer's Voice]Mariko is back again this year and better than ever. We took the flavors and character that made that beer great and amplified them even more. Once again, we have a very wheat forward malt bill contributing to its haze and soft but dry mouthfeel and finish. Adding just a touch more body to the beer this year to support an increase in hop character. Riwaka and Talus make a return, but in higher quantities and using some T-45 Riwaka hop pellets which deliver a more concentrated hop character. This beer has strong tropical citrus character with notes of tangerine, pineapple, mango, and candied orange. The Belgian yeast adds some of its own spice and fruity esters on top giving the beer a depth of tropical flavor. Mariko blends East Coast Hazy IPA with New Zealand hop flavor and ties it all together with our house yeast strain in a tropical and delicious blend of styles.
