うららかに (Urara)
Spring is finally here and the beautiful weather that comes with it always seem to drum up a thirst among craft beer lovers in Japan. With the cherry blossoms beginning to bud, our thoughts have turned to drinking under the trees and along the banks of the Kamo river.
With this in mind, we crafted a Hoppy Wheat Ale to fit the season. We have made similar beers in the past, including 'Shochu Mimai' and 'Catcher in the Wheat', but in comparison to those products, this one uses more wheat (33% of the total recipe) and focuses on Mosaic hops.
The increased wheat content has left the beer with a subtle cloudiness and a refreshing light character. Mosaic hops used late in the brewing process leave a characteristically tropical and citrusy flavour without being overpowering. In short, the perfect hanami (cherry-blossom viewing) beer!
Naming: Soaking up the daytime sun while watching the flowers in bloom without a cloud in the sky or a care in our hearts. What better way to express this feeling than Urara!
