Kyoto Brewing Co.
与謝野の香り (The Scent of Yosano)
1 bar limited to 1x keg max
The town of Yosano in northern Kyoto began a hop cultivation project around the same time as our brewery, and we have been lucky enough to receive a portion of the harvest to use in a beer each year. This year, we made a hoppy American-style pale ale brewed with a massive 30 kg of fresh-picked Yosano hops to put the spotlight on what these hops smell and taste like. We picked the hops alongside the growers in the early morning of the brew, meaning the hops went from vine to kettle in less than three hours, creating a fresh hop character we have never experienced in any of our brews using regular pellet hops.
Naming: The unmistakable aroma and flavor of wet hops dominates this beer and truly gives you a sense of what it is like to walk through the hopfields in Yosano, pick a hop cone from the vine, and break it open. Thus, the name Yosano no Kaori ("The Scent of Yosano") seemed like a total no brainer.
