The mango and banana in themselves bring a wonderful tropical combination, but also make the base quite thick. The passion fruit and guava add an irresistible aroma, and addictive sharpness.
We didn’t want to mess with this winning formula too much, but we have made some tweaks, creating a malt bill closer to what you might see in a hazy IPA, with the addition of some wheat and oats to add body to the beer, and bring out more mouthfeel. This included the addition of a small amount of lactose to bring out that fruit smoothie-like character, and balance out some of the loss of sweetness in fermentation.
This beer could be considered closer to a fruit smoothie, with a moderate amount of sharpness, and plenty of character from the passionfruit, guava, mango and banana. All in all, this is a great summertime beverage for those looking for something that is sweet, sour and refreshing!
