[Character]A special edition of our core Belgian Session IPA, can conditioned for some extra crisp mouthfeel, and double dry hopped with NZ hops adding an entirely extra layer of intense fruity tropical hop aroma to this fan favourite IPA.[Naming]The original 6 Day Weekend was a play on the Japanese "Shukyu Futsuka", literally 2 days break per week, which is what typical workers in Japan hope for. The joke was that this beer wouldn't be too hard on the liver and so you could get away with enjoying it 6 days per week, and keep that weekend feeling going. Since this beer is a jacked up beer, we felt it might be even moreish, and one you might want to just drink every day![Brewer's Voice]What is better than a 6 day weekend? How about a 7-day weekend!? We took our year-round session Belgian IPA and turned it up a notch for this special release. While the base beer for 6-Day weekend is the same, the first significant shift is that this edition is re-fermented in package, just like our Habakarisan, our Ichigo Ichie, and our Rediscovery Series. This gives the beer an added bright carbonation and a finer foam. We also made some subtle tweaks to give it a little more body, while also doubling the amount of cold side hops. We wanted to play with the hop flavour a bit more than just adding more, and so in addition to Simcoe, Citra and Waimea, we added some NZ Cascade and Rakau. This adds more of a tropical stone fruit hop character to the citrus and pineapple in the base 6 Day Weekend. The extra over-ripened fruit and resin character of the Rakau gives the beer a bit more of a hop punch to it, while the NZ cascade bridges the gaps between the more citrus forward American hop character and the tropical NZ hops.
