A luxuriously rich, indulgent stout reminiscent of a decadent dessert, made with cacao and coffee

This is a liquid dessert in a glass, with rich full-bodied flavour from start to finish. With this beer, feel free to keep the expectations high, and we'll try our best not to disappoint.[Brewer's Voice]Whether you want to share it with a special someone or just spoil yourself, our dessert stout is a treat to the senses. Inspired by the Tiramisu dessert, this beer was brewed with a complex blend of Chocolate malts and oats. With a rich fully bodied malt flavour Sweet Expectations has notes of chocolate, caramel, and toffee. We further enriched these flavours by extending the boil, concentrating and caramelizing the sugars in the wort. We added some milk sugar to give the beer a smooth creamy texture, and steeped cinnamon late in the boil for some complimentary aromatic spice character. The cacao mass was sourced from Malebranche, the famous Kyoto sweet maker, who have their own high-end chocolate brand called Cacao 365. We melted this into the wort on the way to the fermenter, keeping the high temperature exposure to a minimum to preserve the delicate Tanzanian chocolate character. We conditioned this beer for over a month to allow the flavours to meld and soften over time. After the initial conditioning, we cold conditioned the beer on a dark roast coffee sourced from another local supplier, Coyote Coffee, for a couple days giving it a mild espresso like aroma. Finally, vanilla was added to smooth out the coffee character, adding some perceived sweetness and silky texture to bring it all together.
