With plenty of character from the roasted malts, this is a dark lager perfect for the change from autumn to winter
[Character]Lager with rich malt character but a balanced finish. Lager yeast creates a dry impression that allows more enjoyment of malt flavors without too much sweetness. A touch of chocolate malt flavor rounds out the color and adds depth to the multiple varieties of malt.[Food Pairing]"Satoimo" potato stewed in dashi, white fish tempura, sweet and sour dishes, hashed beef[Naming]Our original release of New Frontier was a journey into new territory: lager. From there we now look to branch out into yet more untraveled paths, changing hops, malt, and yeast as we continue the journey to find the perfect lager.[Brewer's Voice]Lagers are normally thought to be light in color, flavor, and body. They are great every day drinking beers, and those styles are the ones we have explored so far through the New Frontier series.
This release, however, focuses on the richer, fuller side of the lager repertoire: Bock. While there are many faces of the Bock style, one defining characteristic is more malt flavor and ABV than standard lagers. For our version we went on the slightly richer and darker side, blending both light and dark Munich malts for a nice toasty background. To this we added Caramunich malt for a bit more body and richness in flavor, and a hint of Chocolate malt for character.
The result is a full bodied lager with full flavor and color. The lager yeast keeps the finish feeling crisp, so the beer doesn't feel overly sweet. Instead, the rich malt flavors shine through...this is definitely a sipping-lager!StyleBockSeriesNew frontierABV7.0%IBU26Gas Volume2.4MaltMunich, Munich 2, Caramunich, Pilsner, Mela Beech, ChocolateHopPolaris, Hallertau MittlefruhYeastLagerCategoryBeerJAN4589718741413Best Before2024/02/29
