秋の気まぐれ 2018 (Aki no Kimagure 2018)

With each rendition of the Kimagure Series, we look for new ways to use different ingredients in our inventory while at the same time brewing something that fits the season. This year, we looked to Vic Secret, an Australian hop, and instead of focusing only on extracting its citrus character, we wanted to accomplish one other goal when we crafted the recipe: creating a beer that evolves with the season.

One interesting thing we have noticed over the last three Aki no Kimagure releases is that the fall season is quite a fickle one here in Kyoto. When summer finally subsides, the days are still intensely hot and it is only after the sun goes down do you even realize the calendar has changed. After a month or so, though, daily temperatures and humidity drops to the point that you can finally break out your fall clothes. Thus, we really wanted to ensure that this beer was one that could be enjoyed throughout the changing nuances of fall in Kyoto. Sharp citrus flavours and aromas will dominate the beer early in the season, but as the days grow shorter a luscious malt character with nuances of dry fruit, chocolate, and red wine will start to come to the forefront. We hope that you enjoy the chameleon character of this year’s Aki no Kimagure no matter where you are drinking it!
