ベルギーの米国人 (An American in Belgium)

1 bar limited to 2x kegs max

The pale ale is arguably the quintessential beer. It showcases the two most recognisable ingredients, hops and malt, in near perfect balance. Not too bitter, not too sweet, not too high in alcohol, the pale ale is usually the perfect beer drinker's beer.

With this release, we thought it would be fun to explore what happens when an American pale ale meets a Belgian pale ale and tried to combine our favourite aspects of both while staying true to the essence of the style The spicy and fruity character of our house Belgian yeast blends nicely with the malt character of the beer, while combining citrusy American and earthy, spicy European hops add further complexity to the aroma.

Naming: In a way, the beer is an interpretation of what a classic American pale ale would feel if it were to find itself in the Belgian countryside. While the firm yet balanced bitterness of many classic Belgian pales and saisons would be easy to relate too, undoubtedly the American would be intrigued and somewhat mystified by the floral and spicy character of the yeast driven beers of Belgium. Likewise, the Belgians would undoubtedly find the intense citrus character of the American brash and perhaps offensive, but still respect its uniqueness and ability to utilize local character to the fullest.

Borrowing from the classic film and musical score, Berugii no Beikoujin ('An American in Belgium') attempts to capture and blend the unique characteristics of pale ales from both countries.
