黒鳥 (Black Swan)

1 bar limited to 1x kegs max

Our friendship with Swan Lake Beer goes back many years now, and we commemorated our sharing a booth at the Keyaki Beer Festival by making a beer at each brewery that had never been made there before using techniques new to each brewer. The resulting Baltic Porter brewed at Kyoto Brewing Co. provided the challenge of brewing our first lager, and in a way we combined the recipes for Swan Lake’s award winning Porter and two recent brews of the same style made at KBC and divided by two.

The result is a strong beer rich in chocolaty flavour with a smooth and refreshing finish with just a touch of warming alcohol. The aroma hops come through nicely in the balance of the dark malt flavours and also help the beer from feeling too sweet. We couldn’t be happier with how this collaboration came together, from the start of our friendship to the final product itself.

Naming: Swan Lake Beer gets its name from the white swans that flock to the nearby Lake Hyoko each Winter. This collaboration saw Kyoto Brewing Co. brew its first lager, which up until now was a bit like the black sheep of our brewing family. With the beer being dark as night, the monicker of Black Swan just seemed too perfect to pass up!
