A perfect balance of Soft creamy body with tart lime citrus in this Oat Cream IPA.

Don’t let that fool you when it comes to the diversity of wildlife found there. Located in the northern area of the big South Island are where most of New Zealand’s unique hops hail from. Driving from hop farm to hop farm are signs warning you to watch out for bird crossings. Depending on the area you are in, the silhouette of the bird changes. Similar to how vibrant, unique and free these birds wander about, we wanted to showcase the potential of hops grown on this island - in this specific case, via Motueka hops.[Brewer's Voice]The second in our Motueka series of beers I wanted to once again focus on the lime flavors Motueka can offer but take it in another direction. The inspiration for this beer was key lime pie. I wanted to capture the combination of soft cream from the meringue alongside the citrus tart notes of the lime. To do this we started with a heavy amount of oats, and when I mean heavy, we used so many oats we had problems with out spent grain equipment because of it! This heavy oat profile with a bit of wheat malt and lactose gives the body a very cream-like mouthfeel. To accentuate that character even more we used an English yeast strain and pair the Motueka hops with just a small amount of Sabro hops for its creamy coconut-like characteristics. Predominately hoped with Motueka hops and soured slightly with lactic acid, this beer has a nice tart citrus character to balance out the creamy mouthfeel.
