熱帯派波の嵐 (Tropical Wave)

Although we added added two 30 barrel (3500L) tanks to our brewery at the end of 2015, we had yet to use either of them until this batch. The time was finally right and the first beer to christen these new tanks is 'Nettaiha no Arashi'.

We decided to keep things simple and brew an American style IPA but put the focus on more tropical hops than the citrusy ones the USA is known for. The malt presence is a bit more hefty than most of our Pale Ales and IPAs, using both Maris Otter ale malt from the UK and Munich malt from Germany in addition to the base German Pilsner malt. The result is a dangerously drinkable 7.0% IPA with an intoxicating hop aroma.

With the temperature rapidly dropping and the last of the Autumnal air fading, we have started dreaming a little of warmer climes. 'Nettaiha no Arashi', or "Tropical Wave", is bursting with a juiciness that harks to a beachside paradise. Be warned, however, for the ocean might be appealing but, throw this beer back too quickly and you could easily find yourself being swept into much more deadly waters!
